Georgia Pick and Bow 2025-2026
2025-2026 Registration is now OPEN
What does registration pay for? Each semester offers 10 one-hour classes. Classes include 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of playing music together. Additionally we have one recital and one family jam.
Who can attend? Pick and Bow welcomes all interested students. Students must be in grades 3-12. We teach our classes after school in Lumpkin County. The school System allows us to invite local home-school students to attend as well. Students from surrounding counties are welcome if they can be on time for the start of class.
Do I need to own an instrument? You do not need to own an instrument to attend classes. Each semester we offer instruments for a borrowing fee of $15 each
What grades does Pick and Bow teach? We teach 3-12 grade students.
What instruments can I learn with Pick and Bow? We teach classes in ukulele, fiddle, guitar, mandolin and banjo and some classes have prerequisites. All third graders take ukulele. Fiddle is offered to 4th grade and up. Guitar is offered to fourth or fifth graders who have had a year of ukulele (or guitar at summer camp) and to any interested students 6th grade and up. Mandolin is offered to 4th grade and up at Cottrell Elementary and LCMS. Banjo is offered only at the Cottrell site.
How much does registration cost? We base our registration on the same sliding scale the school system uses to price school lunches. If you qualify for free lunch, your registration fee is $50. If you qualify for “reduced” lunch, your registration fee is $90. If you do not qualify for school lunch discounts, your registration fee is $170. Click here to review Free & Reduced Lunch Guidelines
What should I bring to class with me? We provide snacks before class. If your child has food allergies you might want to send them with a snack to be sure they get something to eat before class. Bring your bagged instrument and any other items provided by P&B like your class folder, tuner, pick etc..
