Neil Tench of Demorest, Georgia, is the proud new owner of a 1999 Martin D-28 guitar. Tench and his wife Reba showed up at Bear on the Square Mountain Festival recently to watch their granddaughter, Emma Claire Beckworth, perform on the festival’s MainStage with her fellow Georgia Pick & Bow fiddle students. After the performance Tench purchased tickets in Pick & Bow’s annual raffle, and on Sunday afternoon he was notified that he had won the guitar. “We couldn’t be more thrilled that this year’s guitar went to a member of the Pick & Bow family,” said Ann Whitley Singleton, a Pick & Bow board member and instructor. The guitar, valued at over $3,000, was donated to Pick & Bow by Mike McCormack of Dahlonega. It brought in over $6,000 in funds that will help support the after-school music program in keeping tuition costs affordable. “We are so grateful to Mike for donating this beautiful guitar and also to each and every person who supported us by purchasing raffle tickets,” said Singleton.
