A week-long summer day camp of intensive music training in bluegrass and old time music for beginning, intermediate and advanced level students.


Instruction and activities will be geared toward having fun, developing skills, playing music in a group, and immersing children in an interest that may well last a lifetime.

The program includes three 40-minute sessions of instrument instruction during the day for each student.  Instruction will be offered on fiddle, guitar, mandolin or banjo at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Between music classes, students will participate in music or Appalachian culture activities such as: crafts, singing, storytelling pottery and more. Each day will end with a 30-minute camp-wide activity including guest musicians, jamming, speakers, student showcase, etc. For our grand finale - a potluck and a performance Friday night. Family and friends are invited to attend and watch our students perform.

Other important camp stuff

For Pick and Bow students and friends who want to have fun playing instruments too! There will be classes for new beginners. Attending summer camp is a great way to get ready for fall classes.

 50% of tuition is due with application.  Balance of tuition (the other 50%) is due June 1.


 *If you are paying the free or reduced lunch rate your signature on the registration application form gives Pick & Bow permission to verify your child’s lunch status

We will be happy to loan an instrument to your child for camp.  Registration does not include the $10.00 loan fee – if applicable.
